Harry the Spur

Harry the Spur

Hello all

Well we told you so last week that Limato was a CERT and so it proved, cantering in; hope that you got the 9/4 as advised.

Our other two selections Boundsy and Hyperfocus were non runners.

This Saturday we have the Ascot Festival with most of the season’s big guns out.

Order of St George would have been the tip but he was beaten in the stayers race last year presumably because of the Arc run which he ran in again when 4th recently.

Ribchester was a shock defeat in the Sussex so we will just watch that too.

It boils down to our old favourite Harry again in the sprint so the main bet is Harry Angel @ evens Ascot 2.00 pm Sat.

Perhaps a small 4 trebles and an acc on Order of St George, Ribchester, Cracksman and Harry Angel will produce a nice return at Ascot.

Give you something to watch!!

Happy viewing

LIMATO CERT

Limato cert

Good evening.

Well last week we were  touched off by Roly Poly when Persuasive just failed to catch her, sorry but O’Brien is on a mission with Group One successes this season.

Looking forward to weekend we think that, provided the ground is good or better, Limato is a good thing at Newmarket on Friday. Get on at 9/4.

At York, on Saturday, we fancy both Hyperfocus 8/1 & Boundsy 16/1  in the Coral Sprint. Get on both.

Last week we referred to leg 3 of the Roll Up so please see the relevant page.

Happy days

Sun Chariot

Welcome all!

Last Sunday brought a dazzling performance from our darling Enable who demolished a top Arc field in a couple of strides. We have harked on about this horse since her win way back in May when she cantered around the Roodeye to win the Cheshire Oaks; she is unbeaten since,  winning the Oaks, Irish Oaks, King George, Yorkshire Oaks and Arc….all easily.  This is the female Frankel!! Only Allez France of the 1970’s has shown such brilliance in the fillies class at middle distance.

Our each way selection of Order of St George came 4th and Highland Reel a non runner.

In the Cambridgeshire our selection Thundering Blue was given too much to do and finished close up.

Talking about Highland Reel, the horse is due to run at Ascot on Saturday and is as big as 7/2 at current odds; I suspect due to all the weight it has to give, all round. It is still a fair price for such a multiple group 1 winner.
We also like Persuasive on Saturday in the Sun Chariot at Newmarket. With only two runs this season she has been got ready for the autumn and 3/1 is a tempting price although we always fear French raiders, in this case Qemah and Usherette. French strike rate in England is remarkable…a bit like their farmers ha ha.

We will be back for the big Newmarket and Ascot meetings on the 14th and 21st respectively but in the meantime keep your eye open for Leg no. 3 in our Roll Up as last week our selection was a non runner so the accumulator is still on. We suspect though that the selection will be Expert Eye in the Dewhurst on the 14th; we will  keep you posted.

Able Enable

Good Afternoon.

Last week was a no go with the Ayr Gold Cup meeting abandoned so nothing to report on that front.

The Arc is almost docking, again at Chantilly this year as was the case last  year whilst its regular port of Longchamp is being renovated.

We indicated last week that it was a cracking field and so it still is.

There are some great each way chances especially with Order of St George @ 11/1 (3rd last year)and Highland Reel @14/1 (2nd last year) but we must stay with wonder filly Enable.

This horse has beaten the lot this year and only the effects of being on the go all season may stop her. We said earlier in the season that she reminded us of Shergar when she won the Cheshire Oaks in May and she has not let us down. GO ENABLE GO!!

Also, keep your eye on the German horse Dschingis Secret @12/1 who is improving rapidly.

Winter’s participation is on hold at the moment and she may run in the Prix de l’Opera instead. Finally, for Arc day back both Limato @11/2 and Brando & 14/1 in the Prix de Foret, these are top sprinters.

For the Cambridgeshire on Saturday we suggest you stick with Thundering Blue @ 8/1 Each Way, the horse is on a roll.

Good luck, as usual.

Winter in Autumn

Winter in Autumn

Well folks, last week yielded yet another winner for us in Capri (recommended at 4/1), winner of the St Leger. We suggested that you back both Capri and Stradivarius which also ran well in third.

Looking to this weekend we only fancy a small each way wager on Growl  at 16/1 in the Ayr Gold Cup, a punter’s nightmare although Brando did us a great favour in the race last year whilst carrying top weight!

The Arc, to be run at Chantilly again, is fast approaching and we will be back for that as we chew on an amazing field, in fact, we can’t recall a better one at this stage with the likes of wonder fillies Enable and Winter due to run along with Order of St George, Highland Reel, Ulysses, Capri, Jack Hobbs etc WOW…. what a race!!

Please don’t forget our Roll Up page for leg no.3

Harry’s The Boy

Harry’s The Boy

Long time no see.

Sorry about the lack of tips lately, we all need holidays but now we are back. Hope that you all had a great summer. I nearly drowned in the Wenatchee River in the Cascades of the USA. Good, say some of you, I hear but never mind I’m here to annoy you with some bum tips!!

Saturday brings the big sprint at Haydock, a real cracker with two of our old favourites in Brando (won in France recently at 9/1) and The Tin Man. The problem here is that they come up against a rapidly improving 3-y-o in Harry Angel who has the beating of these in the Newmarket July Cup although The Tin Man didn’t really turn up that day and Brando (3rd) was back from a long lay off. That was the best  sprint field this season with all the usual suspects and we feel that Harry can only get better especially as he has impressive form at Haydock earlier in the season; get on at 9/4.

O’Brien has some good chances in Ireland this weekend with Churchill, Caravaggio, Winter, Order of St George and Gustav Klimt. We are also interested in the return of his smart horses Seventh Heaven and Rhododendron who have been under a cloud of late.

Anyway, good luck and see you all next week for the St Leger meeting!

Just to remind you, our Roll Up is back in action ……….see the page, please.

ps We did draw your attention to the potential of that fabulous filly ENABLE, after its run at Chester in May. Hope that you followed her in all her Group One wins!!

The Tin Man

The Tin Man

12.07.2017

Good afternoon.

Last week’s Eclipse result was no surprise as we felt that Cliffs Of Moyer was a poor priced favourite, although we do admit that it was rather unlucky in running. One of our tentative suggestions Barney Roy nearly pulled it off when beaten a nose when finishing late, that’s racing!

We have had a good hard look at Newmarket’s famous July course meeting and lots of Royal Ascot winners and close losers litter the cards.

Looking at Frontiersman on Thursday we have been put off by Stoute’s improving Poet’s Word so, after much analysis, we have decided that we will go for an old favourite of ours on Saturday in the July Cup, this being The Tin Man.

Caravaggio is hot favourite and unbeaten but he is meeting seasoned, older sprinters and we feel that “Tinny” named after that great jockey of yesteryear, the immortal Fred Archer, is great value at 6/1 EACH WAY. The horse has the beating of most of these apart from the unpreviously raced against 3-y-o favourite. We would much rather take the 6/1 each way and more or less be guaranteed a slight profit than the odds on of Caravaggio to win!

On the Roll Up front we were tempted with Enable in the Irish Oaks but have seen too many hotpots beaten at the Curragh so we will probably wait for Ribchester or Order of St George at the big Goodwood meeting soon.If anything suitable comes up before, for leg 2, we will give you ample notice.

So, please, watch this space.
