Well, last weekend was a poor do with Brain Power falling (when btn) and Douvan running in Ireland, although he won easily. Not the point, the double was down; not good enough.
This weekend sees Cheltenham and a meeting we will boycott until the Bula moniker is restored to its rightful place in The International but the good news is that Singlefarmpayment is due to run the following Saturday so get your money ready.
More important news is here on the Roll Up so see the page for leg No. 5 TOMORROW.
See you soon
TINGLE CREEK CHASE
Well, last Saturday saw our unlucky selection Singlefarmpayment fall in the Ladbroke at a critical stage as he had just reached the subsequent first and second, Total Recall and Whisper from a long way back. Mark our words, this horse is due.
This weekend sees Aintree and Sandown.
At Aintree, there would be no better winner than Vicente or Cloudy Dream sporting the famous green & white colours of Trevor Hemmings in the inaugural running of the MANY CLOUDS CHASE. These are the colours that Many Clouds wore in his many victories……what a great horse he was…..so sad, the day he broke Thistlecrack then ended his life; what a horse he was.
At Sandown, we fancy a small double on Brain Power in the Henry V111 Novices Chase and Douvan, on his return in the Tingle Creek. Let’s hope that Douvan is back to his best after his Queen Mother flop…..his first defeat after thirteen wins on the bounce.
Great news on the Roll Up front again, please see the page.
Remember, Singlefarmpayment is DUE!!
The Ladbroke Trophy aka The Hennessy
Well last week brought a small profit with our nap Bristol De Mai destroying the field in the Betfair Chase and our each way double yielding a little profit too.
I have been going to Haydock Park for many, many years now and I can tell you that Bristol’s performance was the best I have ever seen by a jump horse there. Like I said in the last post, give him soft at Cheltenham and the Gold Cup is his for the taking.
Now to business.
This Saturday sees the revamped Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury and we must advise a wager on Singlefarmpayment who looks made for the race. The horse was a good second on his seasonal debut at Cheltenham where he was also just touched off by a nose at the festival. GET ON EW at 7/1.
Now please go to the Roll Up page for another selection.
Have a good weekend folks.
The Major is back!!
Good afternoon all. Well we gave racing a miss for a while for things to settle whilst the jump season develops, that is, apart from good news from the Roll Up page;please click on tab above.
Yes, the Roll Up is at stage four !!
Back to business for the weekend.
It’s the Grade 1 Betfair Chase at Haydock on Saturday which looks a match between the up and coming mudlark Bristol De Mai and the ever popular Cue Card.
We lean towards Bristol for the reasons that he will get the ground, his recent Charlie Hall win was top class and Cue Card is unfortunately, “getting on.”
Bristol De Mai will win a Gold Cup one day if it ever turns up heavy at Cheltenham, he is only six. He won at Haydock on soft in January so get on at 11/8.
We also fancy course specialist Clyne @ 11/2 –1.50 Haydock and Vintage Clouds @ 11/2 –3.35 Haydock.
We suggest two win singles and an each way double.
Remember, watch out for leg 4 of the Roll Up.
Bet Victor Gold Cup
Last week’s Breeders Cup was a non affair for us at Del Mar.
Our selections Ulysses and Arrogate were a non runner and a flop respectively.
Only Rhododendron ran soundly being placed from a terrible draw……she was unlucky.
Nothing much doing this weekend apart from the Roll Up..…see page.
We will be back next week with the Bet Victor Gold Cup at Cheltenham when our current fancies of Kylemore Lough and Cloudy Dream will be assessed.
See you next week folks.
Last week our only selection Singlefarmpayment ran a blinder on its seasonal debut finishing 2nd looking all over the winner two out, denied by a front running, tenacious and locally trained Cogry. This was a great run giving the winner 13lb, after a seven month lay off! The horse must be backed in the Hennessy.
Well folks its that time of year……yes it’s the Breeders Cup.
This year the action takes place at Del Mar on the west coast so the racing will be late night stuff……love it.
We fancy Stoute’s Ulysses 11/4 in the Breeders Cup Turf and Arrogate 11/4 to defend his crown in the Classic.
Other old favourite Rhododendron is also a strong fancy for her selected race.
Have a successful weekend.
Please see our Roll Up and Financial pages for important news!
Good evening all.
Sorry about last Saturday. We should have stuck to our original selection of Order of St George but were swayed by Harry Angel who looked invincible;not sure he likes Ascot! Our four trebles yielded two winners & two placed which wasn’t quite good enough.
On the Roll Up front we have now selected two consecutive non runners for leg 3 but please be patient, we have a runner lined up for next week’s Breeders Cup!
On the home front this weekend we don’t really fancy anything apart from Singlefarmpayment at Cheltenham, if it runs! Back it each way as it will be its seasonal debut. This horse was very unlucky at the festival when touched off on the line and beaten a nose.
Keep well and see you next week in America!!
