Cheltenham/National Trials

17.02.2017

Well you lucky punters, last Saturday’s  three tips supplied two winners and a third in the form of Tobefair and Native River with Clyne third. Not too bad really as Clyne ran really well with a big weight, away from his favoured track of Haydock. All three must be followed and strongly as they are all improving at a rapid pace.

Native River is my type of horse, makes the running and grinds them down just like Denman did. Clyne is a horse on a roll, a real trier but just short of top class, this horse is being saved for Aintree. Tobefair has defied the handicapper like none I have ever seen and when looking beaten finds more to make it look easy; a real enigma that deserves a big Cheltenham handicap win.

Now back to business  and this Saturday’s Cheltenham and Grand National trials range from difficult to fairly easy.

Yanworth should win at Wincanton and Cue Card at Ascot but the Haydock National trial poses a good think and is best left alone as all are in with a good chance  in the expected slog.

There’s nothing like being stood at the 2nd last on the exposed expanses of Haydock Park on a winter’s day, watching  and listening to the jockeys appear from up the straight, cajoling their mounts with “over me boy” as they urge them on, the atmosphere is quite eerie.  Anyway, that’s another story!

Good luck
